As the days grow shorter and the holiday season quickly approaches, we look with appreciation to November reminding us of the importance of gratitude, giving thanks, and celebrating the good in our lives.

Supporting Connection & Unity in Your School
The We Are Connected mindset reminds us of the power of coming together, most notably during times of challenge and moments of difference. Now is the time to find connection and unity by supporting one another and fostering spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard.
Ideas for Schools to Use with Educators
- Circle Talk: Create an optional space for staff to gather and share any thoughts or emotions in a supportive environment. Remind everyone of shared values and encourage open dialogue, allowing people to express and process without judgment.
- Empathy Building Activity: Have educators share a personal story or experience that shaped their perspective. This can build bridges and understanding across differences and remind staff that connection and support come first, especially in challenging times.
- Gratitude & Connection Exercise: Encourage educators to share one thing they appreciate about a colleague. This reminds staff of their common purpose and the support they have within the school community.
Ideas for Schools to Use with Students
- Safe Circles: Offer a chance for students to share how they’re feeling in small groups, with a focus on listening and understanding. Create a space where they feel safe to express themselves, emphasizing kindness and mutual respect.
- Connection Chain: Have students create a “connection chain” by writing or drawing something they admire about a classmate and linking them together as a visual reminder that they are part of a supportive community.
- Acts of Kindness Challenge: Encourage students to perform one small act of kindness for a peer each day this week. This fosters unity and reminds them of the impact they have on one another.
The We Are Connected mindset is especially powerful in times like these. Let’s strengthen our connections among educators, staff, and students by remembering that despite our differences, we are stronger-as-one and together we can support and uplift each other.

School Engagement Spotlight
BLACK MANOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Texas)
Post-Covid, the Blake Manor Elementary campus struggled with parent, family, and community engagement, low attendance, increase of students struggling with mental health and not having the resources to support all these factors posed a challenge and negatively impacted our campus culture (students and staff). Principal Krystle Austin knew the school needed a reset and that the missing piece was a well-being curriculum like 7 Mindsets. “7 Mindsets was going to not only be something to implement on the campus, but it was going to give us the opportunity to bridge the home-to-school relationship and bring people back into our buildings, and work together on everyone’s mental health,” Austin said. … continue reading
